A few waves were on offer down at Dbar today, probably a little bigger here than at most other gc spots but with a bit of a crowd too. We are expecting around 1-2ft tomorrow with it likely to be a little bigger in Northern NSW if you wanna take the trip.
Safe holidays to you….

I’ve put in my request to Santa, please bring me a paraglider, flying one of these would be so cool. At the Seaway, a group of these guys were flying (and low) along TOS and over the Spit having a great time. Hard to imagine how good it would be to just hover a few metres over the break, yep, I want one. We also have nice light winds, which I’m guessing are good flying conditions, but blowing out the surf a little now. Still, hot Sun and half decent swell is kickin’ around so if you are lucky enough to be on Holidays, then get out and enjoy it.
From us to you, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope you have a bumper New Year. Please take care and enjoy your time together with family and friends.

An overcast, and sticky hot Weekend for the Goldie again. Showers and the chance of afternoon storms are the forecast, probably correct with all the humidity around.
We checked out the southern breaks early, the swell was a little smaller than what we thought it would be but it was still a good wave from Dbah up to Burleigh. Snapper to Greenmount was the pick, with next to no wind, it was dishing up nice, clean, long rides, and both short and long board riders were having a field day. It was a little busy but very consistant.
Here are some of the better pics from these spots.

Hot is summer, and hot is the beach. It’s where you come to cool down by ridin’ them waves, and, you cannot complain when you have a little decent swell hanging around. The week ahead looks like it will be alright too, so any day out for a ride should make you smile.

A total eclipse in far North Qld today, a totality of Sunshine here at Burleigh. As you can see by these photos we are too far South to notice anything different at this hour unfortunately. However, when the sun is out shining like this, the weather is warm and waves are plentiful, I don’t think too many of us were disappointed to miss out on the total eclipse. Hang around for a bit and you might see some of the shadow.
Swell is about two foot and the winds blowing Northly.

SOS… The Save Our Spit Alliance and GECKO have organised a peaceful protest on Sunday November 4th at Doug Jennings Park at the Spit. If you are against any development around the Spit and the GC Seaway such as cruise ship terminals and casinos, then you are urged to attend the protest which will kick off at 10am.
It appears that our Council and State Government have bandied together and are allowing almost anything to be brought forward as a proposal for development. As long as there is a cruise ship terminal then it seems that a casino and/or Hotel or whatever can be listed along side… its open slather, the developers even get to choose their prefered site. Ric Grosvenor, the CEO of Sembawang, calls it smoke and mirrors (Sembawang pulled the plug on the recently proposed Wave Break Island development – thank goodness), and he thinks a development around the Broadwater like this will not happen.
So, thousands of surfers and general public are expected to turn up to the protest. Get there early and show your hand that you respect this area and oppose any such development that will forever inhibit the freedom and quality of life that relaxing parkland, enjoyable open space, and good clean water provides for us around here.

We are in a bit of a lull today. Not much happening wave wise along the coast. TOS and the southern points are the pick but there were also a few coming through on the open beaches, just a bit hard to find a good bank. Winds are forecast to go Easterly later so an arvo surf probably wont be much. Looking forward to the weekend, a bit of swell is on the cards at this point.
The water clarity is looking good, nice and clear, if you are a diver or snorkeler, may be a good day for you to take a dive.
