Appropriate Exit

A few waves were on offer down at Dbar today, probably a little bigger here than at most other gc spots but with a bit of a crowd too. We are expecting around 1-2ft tomorrow with it likely to be a little bigger in Northern NSW if you wanna take the trip.

8:00 am – Duranbah. I dig the colour in the wave

An overcast, and sticky hot Weekend for the Goldie again. Showers and the chance of afternoon storms are the forecast, probably correct with all the humidity around.

We checked out the southern breaks early, the swell was a little smaller than what we thought it would be but it was still a good wave from Dbah up to Burleigh. Snapper to Greenmount was the pick, with next to no wind, it was dishing up nice, clean, long rides, and both short and long board riders were having a field day. It was a little busy but very consistant.

The Southerly swell did arrive but over the weekend it wasn’t really affecting the points to much in the early part of the weekend. Duranbah faired well on the Goldie, it was crowded but still there were plenty of waves rolling through. You could see the swell on the horizon as it was slowly pushed up by the winds so there would have been much action for the boaties. If you went for a trip south of the boarder you would most likely have caught the swell.

How cold was it!

Doesn’t matter, looking at the long range forecast we only have a few more weeks of chilly mornings where it will be around 10 deg C. Soon the days will increase to maximums in the mid 20s and the mornings will slowly increase the temps as well. We will be back to bikinis and boardies in no time, bring on Summer.

Nice easy take off

Often it’s a good place to chill at Point Danger, looking down onto Dbah and surrounding beaches. Amazing views, and when the day is crystal clear like the views go on for ever.

A great swell came through yesterday and a little of it is still hanging about giving points a pretty good wave to ride. Winds are slightly off shore keeping things clean and the beachies are a little small but looking alright too. Dbah seems to be holding a decent size wave.

Yep, big surf does do this…

This is Duranbah, take a look at the cliff wall that has formed along the beach. The large swell that hit the Coast over the last week, coinciding with King tides etc, has simply chopped into the shore line like I chop into Tim Tams…

The surf has been a tad small over the last few days but a nice little wave was happening at D’bar yesterday. Crispy little lefts and rights and, on the sets, little barrels if you could tuck in far enough. Awesome sunrise and beautiful day, pretty much the typical Autumn for you. Still warmer in the water than out so get out and enjoy it.

Point Danger is a headland, located at the southern end of the Gold Coast on the east coast of Australia. Separated by Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay to the West, with Duranbah Beach and the Tweed River mouth to the south. Present-day Point Danger has also indicated the border between New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, since 1863.

The point is the location of the Captain Cook memorial and lighthouse, the Centaur Memorial and Walk of Remembrance, the Marine Rescue NSW Point Danger station, and the southern end of the Gold Coast Oceanway.

Who didn’t snag a wave over the weekend?

The surf pumped, maybe a little too much as it was un-surfable on the open beaches, but the points were crankin’. Obviously it was crowded, and it was for the experienced surfers only but damn it was good stuff. We hit Duranbah on Saturday morning, it was a little messy around high tide but as the morning rolled on so did the waves, and they cleaned up a little as the day wore on.

Strange really, it was relatively quiet on the water at Dbar for the most part and very quiet on the sand but the crowd started building around 9 ish. Below are some of the highlights from the morning session.
